The Story Behind the Story

As the result of a multi-year international narcotics smuggling and money laundering investigation, Crip gang member Quawntay ‘Bosco’ Adams was arrested by a team of federal agents in East St. Louis, Illinois on January 22, 2004.

Twenty years later, in February 2024, Bosco, a major motion picture, was released on NBC Universal’s Peacock platform, with the events of the film “based on” a heavily fictionalized account of his escape from custody and eventual capture. The evidence and true facts of the criminal investigation and Adams’s federal trial contradict many elements of the film.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Special Agent (SA) Jim Weber (ret.) was the lead investigator and the original arresting agent. SA Weber was also a member of the team that tracked and recaptured Adams after his escape from custody, the major event at the center of the film’s narrative. The overall investigation of Adams lasted more than two years and led agents from the Mexican border to Texas, Missouri, Illinois, California, and back again.

In Hollywood, it seems every story has two sides. For the real story of the investigation, capture, escape, and re-capture of ‘Bosco’ Adams, email info@streetwise-360.com or use our contact form by clicking the button below to schedule Jim for an interview or appearance.
